Eureka Recycling: 2023 Year in Review
Another Great Year at Eureka!
- We collected through and survived the 6th snowiest winter in Minnesota’s history
- Launched Minnesota’s first EV collection vehicle
- Took delivery of 26,000 truckloads of material – that’s over 97,000 tons from 9 municipalities and 29 haulers
- Made 3.9 million collection stops!
- Launched the Minnesota Zero Waste Coalition with other organizations in the state working to advance Zero Waste
- Advocated for the Digital Fair Repair Act, which was passed by the legislature
- Developed model bill language for Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) and Deposit Return Systems (DRS) in preparation for the 2024 Minnesota legislative session
- Submitted comments to the Federal Trade Commission on much-needed updates to the Federal Green Guides
- Published a Film Capture Study that provides a comprehensive analysis of the feasibility of capturing plastic bags in a typical MRF
- Introduced nearly 900 people to Eureka’s mission and operations through the Tour Program
- Recruited, hired, and onboarded 20 new full-time employees
- Celebrated 59 milestone employee anniversaries including 12 people hitting their 15th year and 5 reaching 20 years!
- Thanked Bryan Ukena and Alex Danovitch as they stepped down from their positions on the board
- Thanked Co-Presidents Kate and Lynn for their leadership as they embark on their next adventures
- Welcomed three new board members: Amanda LaGrange, McKenna Morrigan, and Joaquin Mariel
- Congratulated Katie Drews and Miriam Holsinger for their well-deserved moves into the Co-President roles
